Item# (PN): OS130A Shipping and Payment
The Omega OS130A series offers a low cost, high-performance infrared (IR) sensor/transmitter in a 316 stainless steel housing. These IR sensors are ideal for hard-to-reach areas, confined spaces, or harsh environments. The 6 different output options provide simple interfacing directly to meters, controllers, data loggers, recorders, computer boards, and PLC's. The units come standard with 2 hex nuts, 1.8 m (6') shielded cable for power and output connections, and an operator’s manual.
The OS137 models feature adjustable emissivity 0.5 to 1, field of view 10 to 1, and adjustable alarm set points and voltage output to trigger external relays. The stainless steel housing makes this sensor durable and long lasting and the OS137A models have a NEMA IP65 rating.
The OS136 models have a NEMA IP66 rating and remain robust within many different environments. These models have an optical field of view of 6 to 1 with a fixed emissivity of 0.95.

How is Temperature Measured?
Temperature can be measured via a diverse array of sensors. All of them infer temperature by sensing some change in a physical characteristic. Six types with which the engineer is likely to come into contact are: thermocouples, resistive temperature devices (RTDs Pt100 and thermistors), infrared radiators, bimetallic devices, liquid expansion devices, and change-of-state devices.

What are Infrared Temperature Sensors?
An infrared thermometer is a sensor that consists of a lens to focus the infrared (IR) energy on to a detector, which converts the energy to an electrical signal that can be displayed in units of temperature after being compensated for ambient temperature variation. This configuration facilitates temperature measurement from a distance without contact with the object to be measured (non-contact temperature measurement).
As such, the infrared thermometer is useful for measuring temperature under circumstances where thermocouples or other probe type sensors cannot be used or do not produce accurate data for a variety of reasons...
