Retractable Sensor Cable is colour coded and spring coiled, for use with thermocouples, RTD’s and thermistors. They can be used as an extension or connection, depending on the installed connector.
To achieve a superior jacket construction, OMEGA has employed the latest in insulating material: TPE (thermoplastic elastomer), a unique family of thermoplastics which exhibits characteristics previously found only in rubber compounds. TPE is extremely tough and flexible, and has excellent abrasion resistance. Our special construction technique yields an expansion rate of up to 500%.
OMEGA’s retractable sensor cables are specifically recommended for use with electronic-type indicators, either panel, handheld or bench type models. Retractable sensor cables have hundreds of applications: oscillating machinery, handheld surface probes, or wherever retractable sensor cables are required.
Comes with bare stripped ends as standard. You can order the cable, including the installation of connectors. Put the required connectors in the basket together with the cable. If needed, order the required connectors separately, see "Related Products" below.
Standard supply is ANSI version, if you want to order IEC version, please state this in the note.
Complete informations can be found in the spec sheet (PDF), see the "Download" section.

How is Temperature Measured?
Temperature can be measured via a diverse array of sensors. All of them infer temperature by sensing some change in a physical characteristic. Six types with which the engineer is likely to come into contact are: thermocouples, resistive temperature devices (RTDs Pt100 and thermistors), infrared radiators, bimetallic devices, liquid expansion devices, and change-of-state devices.

Thermocouple Wire / How it Works?
The thermocouple wire or cable is used to manufacture thermocouple probes in order to sense temperature using the point of cold junction compensation (cjc end). On the other side, as it has been explain in this other article, a thermocouple is a sensor for measuring temperature, that consists of two dissimilar metals that are joined together at the sensing end.
Different thermocouple types (e.g. J or K type thermocouple wire) use different mixtures of metals in the cable. At the cjc end, the millivolt value provided by the thermocouple represents the difference in temperature of the sensing end as compared to the cjc end (also called the reference end)...
